In Case of Emergency

Emergency calls:

Crime and Accidents:

Dial "110" for police. They will arrive as soon as possible. You will need to report the situation over the phone but if you are incapable of speaking Japanese, just tell them your name and the number you are dialing from. If there is anyone injured, please dial "119" first for an ambulance.

Fire, Injuries, and Illness:

Dial "119" for an ambulance or the fire department. Please tell the operator first whether you are reporting a fire or you need an ambulance. Then you will need to report the situation precisely. If you can't speak Japanese, just remember to tell your name and the number you are dialing from.

Notice:

If you make an emergency call from a cellular phone, it will connect to a broadband area, which takes a long time, so please use the nearest phone or public phone. If cellular phones are the only option, it's best to call the nearest police station or fire department directly, before trying "110" or "119". Please give your exact address. Any way first of all you should try to ask for help to Japanese speaking people nearby.
